Coding schemes for the binary symmetric channel with known interference

چکیده
We consider a binary symmetric channel with additive binary interference known to the transmitter but unknown to the receiver. Depending on whether the interference signal is known noncausally or causally, this channel falls in the cases studied by Gel’fand and Pinsker and by Shannon, respectively, for which coding theorems and single-letter capacity expressions are known. In this work we present effective code constructions for both problems. In particular, we show that the non-causal interference knowledge case can be turned into an equivalent binary multipleaccess channel, for which standard superposition coding and successive decoding can be used. We discuss also two alternatives for the causal interference knowledge case, one based on time-sharing and the other based on coding over a ternary alphabet with non-uniform probability assignment.

Achievable Secrecy Rate Regions of State Dependent Causal Cognitive Interference Channel
In this paper, the secrecy problem in the state dependent causal cognitive interference channel is studied. The channel state is non-causally known at the cognitive encoder. The message of the cognitive encoder must be kept secret from the primary receiver. We use a coding scheme which is a combination of compress-and-forward strategy with Marton coding, Gel’fand-Pinsker coding and Wyner’s wire...
متن کاملBinary Lattice Vector Quantization with Linear Block Codes and Affine Index Assignments
We determine analytic expressions for the performance of some low-complexity combined source-channel coding systems. The main tool used is the Hadamard transform. In particular, we obtain formulas for the average distortion of binary lattice vector quantization with affine index assignments, linear block channel coding, and a binary-symmetric channel. The distortion formulas are specialized to ...
متن کاملNew coding schemes for the symmetric K -description problem
We propose novel coding schemes for the Kdescription problem with symmetric rates and symmetric distortion constraints. There are two main new ingredients in these schemes: the first one is akin to the method seen in the well-known butterfly network of network coding literature, and systematic erasure channel codes are applied on certain carefully chosen source coding component; the second appr...
متن کاملCapacity of 1-to-K Broadcast Packet Erasure Channels with Channel Output Feedback (Full Version)
This paper focuses on the 1-to-K broadcast packet erasure channel (PEC), which is a generalization of the broadcast binary erasure channel from the binary symbol to that of arbitrary finite fields GF(q) with sufficiently large q. We consider the setting in which the source node has instant feedback of the channel outputs of the K receivers after each transmission. The capacity region of the 1-t...
متن کاملThe lowest-possible BER and FER for any memoryless channel with given capacity
We consider coded transmission over a memoryless channel with some fixed capacity C and derive properties of channel coding schemes leading to the lowest bit error rate and frame error rate, respectively. The resulting overall optimum channels (including encoder, underlying channel, and decoder) behave like a binary symmetric channel and a fully bursty channel (block binary erasure channel), re...
